Finance Assistant

Miami Conservancy District (MCD) is seeking a detail-oriented finance assistant to join our team!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Audits invoices for payment and processes accounts payable on a weekly basis while communicating with vendors as needed relating to credit applications, invoices, statements, etc. Oversees the purchase order process, purchasing employee lists, supply room inventory, and daily bank deposits. Assists the Treasurer with year-end close out procedures and the development of accounts payable and payroll manuals.

Processes biweekly payroll for 50 employees and maintains payroll database with updates to personnel and employee information. Submits withholdings, files payroll reports, and updates payroll journal entry spreadsheet each pay period.

Oversees records retention for finance and payroll. Rotates records to and from off-site storage for retention and destruction.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

The qualified candidate will have an associate’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field and 1 year of professional experience performing accounting and/or auditing duties; specified experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Must be trustworthy and able to keep information confidential. The qualified candidate will also be able to read and analyze accounting, professional and legal documents, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Paycor and/or Crystal Report experience is a plus. Candidate must be detail-oriented and possess the ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
