RiverBank levee project to improve
Great Miami River access
Weather permitting, there should be a new access point along the west side of the Great Miami River in Dayton by year’s end. Construction is scheduled to begin Monday on the RiverBank levee project between Third Street and I-75 near Fifth Street in downtown Dayton.
Work includes flattening the levee slope, creating a wider levee top, and building a ramp to the river bottom for cyclists, kayakers, pedestrians and maintenance vehicles.
The levee top will be wide enough for a future walkway, lighting, benches, swings and other amenities.
The project is expected to become a new gateway to the river and open river access to neighborhoods west of the river.
